Just a quick, I’ve-taken-my-summer-break-and-am-now-back update.

Fall tends to be my usual season for pumping out web goodies. More music and other major ‘Screen updates coming soon.

Hello everyone,

Thanks to the gracious comments of two of our users, it has come to my attention that the link for the most recent Release track was broken.

I have fixed this annoyance and would like to thank the two users for bringing it to my attention.

Of course, the first comment alerting me to this was more than a month ago… but that’s okay. Better late than never, I suppose.

My apologies to all users for this problem. Please let me know via comment of any other problems with the site. I’ll get around to fixing them eventually, as you can see. Sorry again!

Thanks!

A Taste of Tarmac

Release number five, we’re on our way.

Track Information

—Title: A Taste of Tarmac

—Duration: 3:00

—Bitrate: 320kbps

—File Size: 7.44MB

The problems of this track are generated by the beginning and end. I wrestled with throwing a simple fade-in to the first couple of seconds because, ultimately, I’m rather dissatisfied with the start of the track. After taking a listen to how it comes in following the ending of the other releases and testing it again with a fade-in, I chose the former.

It’s the same story with the end. It just comes from nowhere. But if I can get by a jumpy start and a rushed end, the rest of the track sounds fairly decent.

Sadly, I wasn’t able to come across a clip of the higher pitched bridge (the one starting at 0:22) that segued into the main riff, so I had to imitate one by jumping back to the baseline. Even though this is done in the actual song, my crappy mockery of it doesn’t shine here (you can probably tell where I improvised. If you can’t, good).

All in all, it could be worse, though.

Please do enjoy!

Update: Down Time

Our host, Ambitious Lemon, recently deleted our account in their current purging. The issues have since been resolved and I hope we continue to be hosted by them for a long time.

Thank them. Donate to them. Worship them. Now.

We’re not dead. More music coming.

The South Shall Fry Again

This one was a little touch and go.

Although it isn’t the shortest full release (Coffee beats it by 10 seconds), I feel like I should apologize anyway. There was very, very little leeway with this track; literally nothing but what’s in the track to work with. The most annoying parts being there isn’t a proper beginning to the track (the melody is supposed to repeat three or four times with unique bridges in between. I had to compress it to one melody and one bridge).

I also had to get a little creative in dealing with certain transitional aspects (thank god for motor cycle “vroom” sounds). Suffice it to say, if AB would have started his professing only seconds earlier/later, this track would be much better. A lot of the essential bits that are needed to make the song flow accurately had a speech overlay of one second in either direction.

Because of this, you might notice some jump cuts if you listen closely. But I have had this track on in the background on and off the past few days, and you hardly notice them if you’re not actively listening. So unless you’re just sitting there listening to the track, it’s probable you won’t find it too annoying.

Again, sorry, sorry sorry– just wish I had those couple seconds to work with.

Oh well. Maybe when Feasting 3 comes around, huh?

Enjoy!

Well, Christmas has come and gone… and then some.

No excuses for broken promises, but new tracks are in the pipeline.

 Hang in there.

Update: Still At Work

Hello, everyone,

I just wanted to make a quick post to let everyone know that FoA:MP didn’t suddenly die, as an entire month+ without a post might suggest. Quite the contrary: we’re still at work on a lot of the Feasting soundtrack.

Two things have been widening the gap between releases, however.

1) The simple time constraints of life and the holiday season.

2) We’re beginning to hit the wall in terms of ease of composition.

All of the tracks that wouldn’t create major headaches have already been released. Currently we have about four tracks as WIPs (including some unreleased here), but we can see no clear way to either complete or expand them without major audio editing and restoration… which we’re willing and able to do.

Basically, we expect a longer delay between the release of tracks. But do know that we’re still here working on this project. I’ll be sure to stop in between releases and WIP releases to remind everyone of just that.

Just to let everyone know, if you see the header image change, take that as another indication that we’re still around, as I update them manually every now and then (like just before this post, for example).

I promise we’ll be back with a full release before Christmas.

In the meantime, I hope everyone enjoys what we’ve released thus far. Be sure to shoot questions, comments, and concerns our way via comments or at foamusicproject@gmail.com.

Cheers.

Track Information
—Title: High Plains Feaster
—Duration: 4:12
—Bit Rate: 320kbps
—File Size: 10.21MB

Fortunately, this is one of the few tracks that had a large portion of it played as an overlay during the show (more specifically, Alton’s one-armed cooking endeavor at the Ontario, CA truck stop (Season 1, Episode 4). Of course, we use this to our advantage.

I haven’t gotten around to uploading (or even archiving for that matter) the ready clips for this track, since I’m due on an extended driving trip today. I’ll get around to it eventually, since I still see some downloads of them even after having fixed the release links.

All in all, splicing went well. There were a few tedious moments regarding the transitions between the different instrumentations of the main melody. Of course as you all will see, this most obvious instance of splicing is between the first and second movements. I couldn’t for the life of anyone find a complete clip that captured the bridge between the breakdown and the main melody, so I had to devise one. The music actually flows nicely, but the splicing job is obvious with differences in the volume; there’s three clips spliced together within a three second section. Suffice it to say, this was very annoying and we eventually just had to let the flaws go.

Despite these glaring imperfections, we hope you enjoy!

Hey everyone,

First things first, here’s the fixed links:

Download Coffee at 14,000 Feet

Download Down In The Delta

As some of you may have noticed, the link for the Down In The Delta and Coffee at 14,000 Feet tracks were broken.

A rule we followed during the migration process was to use relative links as opposed to absolute, in case we needed to once again move the site to a different directory, server, what have you. For some very odd reason, the relative link to the files led to a “tracks” folder within the “wp-admin” folder.

This makes absolutely no sense to us, as every other link on this release blog uses the same exact relative link scheme. We have no idea why it linked to a folder within the wp-admin folder.

Nonetheless, I am personally extremely sorry about this mix up. Somewhere during the WordPress migration process, I got lazy and didn’t check all of the links. The worst part about all of this is that I found out via the site stats page. All of the hits were going to the Down In The Delta ready clips, which I thought very odd. I checked the link and, of course, was led to discover the problem.

In the future, I’ll be checking each and every link that is posted. Again, I’m really very sorry. Despite my newfound determination, I suspect I’ll be making tons more mistakes along the way. If anyone catches something that’s off, please, please feel free to email me at: foamusicproject@gmail.com.

Here’s direct links to the files.

WIP: California or Bust

I personally started this track last night at around 8:30pm. An hour and a half later I not only had over 60 seconds of unrepeated content, but a very nice drive to work track for the next morning. Click the above photo or use the link below… yaddah, yaddah, yaddah.

Track Information:
—Title: California or Bust
—Duration: 1:11
—Bit Rate: 128kbps
—File Size: 1.67MB

Down the line, it may be difficult to isolate the higher pitched guitar riffs for this track, but we’ll have to scrub the second season a bit closer to be certain. Also, we apologize for the lower bitrate, but we’ve opted to use 128kbps MP3 for WIPs from now on– saves a lot of uploading time. But it still sounds fantastic, and of course the full release will be at the usual 320kbps.
